The Arab University for Science and Technology (AUST) signed a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation with the Hama Chamber of Industry. This step aligns with AUST's strategic vision to direct scientific research toward serving comprehensive economic development and aligning educational outcomes with labor market requirements. It aims to build a long-term partnership that translates academic knowledge into tangible economic value, supporting the developmental and industrial ecosystem in the governorate.
The signing ceremony took place at the university's headquarters in the presence of Prof. Dr. Yassin Alloush, President of the University, and Dr. Jamil Al-Sheikh Othman, Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation. The Hama Chamber of Industry was represented by an official delegation headed by Mr. Asaad Kajoun, Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors, alongside Vice Chairman Dr. Mohammad Al-Khaled, General Director Mr. Abdul Aziz Orabi, and Dr. Ahmad Al-Kurdi, Director of the Chamber's Training and Qualification Center.
Through this partnership, the university seeks to solidify its role as a scientific and research institution supporting the community and the productive sector. Under the agreement, AUST will make its advanced specialized laboratories available to industrial facilities and factories to conduct chemical, physical, and microbiological product testing at actual cost, without any profit margin. The memorandum also focuses on directing student graduation projects and faculty research toward finding concrete solutions for technical and operational challenges faced by factories, alongside providing direct scientific consulting.
Furthermore, the MoU opens broad prospects for students and graduates by offering field training opportunities and factory visits, creating direct links between graduate profiles and available job openings in industrial enterprises. It includes training discounts ranging from 10% to 35% for AUST students and graduates on professional and managerial programs held at the Chamber's Training and Qualification Center. Additionally, modern spaces dedicated to study and remote work—equipped with high-speed fiber-optic internet—will be provided at a nominal fee to support young talent.
The Presidency of the Arab University for Science and Technology emphasized that this step reflects its firm commitment to delivering added value to the national industrial sector. It stressed that investing in young minds and bridging academic expertise with field reality form the cornerstone for building a more resilient and prosperous economic and educational future.
