الهندسة المعمارية

My dear students, esteemed faculty colleagues and engineers, our new students, and the honorable family of the college,

I am pleased today to assume the responsibility of leading the College of Architectural Engineering at this pivotal stage, where there is an urgent need for an informed architectural vision that redefines our relationship with our built environments and urban communities.

Architecture: A science, an art, and a human mission

Architecture is not merely the drawing of buildings; it is a science that brings together art, technology, and philosophy, through which human needs are translated into living spaces that breathe with their inhabitants. It is the visual language that expresses the identity of nations, documents the evolution of civilizations, and embodies the aspirations of generations. The architect is not a “builder of walls,” but a creator of living environments who reshapes the relationship between people and their places, balancing aesthetics with function, and heritage with innovation.

Architecture plays a central role in our daily lives. It determines the quality of the air we breathe inside buildings, the way we interact in public squares, and our sense of safety within our cities. In a world facing the challenges of climate change and unplanned urban expansion, sustainable architecture is no longer a decorative option but an existential necessity to ensure the continuity of life on our planet. A well-designed building does not only save energy; it enhances mental well-being, stimulates creativity, and reinforces cultural identity.

Since the dawn of history, architecture has been the language of civilizations: from the temples of Mesopotamia to the markets of Islamic cities, from the squares of the European Renaissance to today’s smart neighborhoods. Cities are not built by concrete alone; they are woven through conscious design that creates spaces fostering social interaction, achieving spatial justice, and preserving collective memory. The contemporary architect is a social engineer who participates in shaping the fabric of cities—designing schools that educate, hospitals that heal, neighborhoods that unite, and squares that encourage dialogue. A city is not a collection of buildings; it is an open book read through its streets, spaces, and details.

To our new students: Welcome to a profession that touches the lives of millions every day. Here, you will learn how to transform stone into a homeland, emptiness into memory, and design into a human message.

To all members of our academic family: Let us work together to build a college that graduates architects who carry the responsibility of shaping tomorrow—smart yet human cities, sustainable buildings that reflect the identity of our nation, and public spaces that restore the beauty of interaction and belonging.

Together, we create architecture that is not built for the place, but built for the human being.
